How to Draw Buildings

Step 1

Draw a vertical rectangular shape in the middle of the paper. Make sure the top of the building is relatively larger than the bottom. This outlines the building in the middle.

Since building shapes are mostly straight, use a ruler to sketch straight stripes quickly and easily.

To ensure the building is drawn in the center, you can create reference lines by drawing an intersecting horizontal and vertical lines on the paper.

The point where the two lines meet will guide where to outline the first building in the middle.

Step 2

Draw another vertical rectangle on the left side of the paper, right next to the first building we drew in the previous step. This creates an outline for the second building.

Make sure the top of this building is an upward diagonal line going to the right instead of a straight horizontal line.

This building should also be taller than the previous building we drew in the middle.

Step 3

Structure the third building on the right side of the sheet by drawing another vertical rectangle.

Make sure this building is taller than the one in the middle but not as tall as the one on the left.

After completing this step, you should have drawn three tall buildings, as shown in the image.

Step 4

Make the building on the right look like a tower by adding a platform directly above it to increase its height.

Just draw a rectangular shape at the top of the building to create a platform. The width of the platform should not be greater than the width of the building on which it stands.

Step 5

Repeat the previous step and draw another rectangular shape over the one drawn in the previous step.

Note that this platform should be smaller than the one below.

Step 6

Now draw a square shape on top of the two stacked rectangular shapes above the building on the right.

This is the third and last platform of the tower.

If drawn correctly, the three platforms should start at the top of the building.

Step 7

After drawing all three buildings, we worked on the details and models to make them realistic.

Starting with the building on the left, draw more rectangular shapes inside the building to create the look of the windows.

Step 8

Move to the building on the right, draw elliptical shapes along the length of the building and create three tall parallel windows.

Step 9

Finally, draw more rectangular shapes on the remaining building that still needs windows. This will form the windows of the central building and eventually complete your design.

As you can see in the picture, all three buildings have unique windows, and no two are alike. This makes the artwork creative and aesthetically pleasing.

You can draw the windows like our illustration or design your own. Either way, we’re sure your design will come out beautifully!

After we have successfully drawn three skyscrapers, it’s time for the fun part: choose colors and color the buildings.

Depending on the building material used and the color of the paint, the buildings come in a wide variety of shades.

The most common building colors are black, white and gray, but feel free to use lighter colors! You can even use your favorite colors if you want.

Have fun playing with colors and see how the building eventually becomes colorful. We are excited to see which colors you choose!
